This is a dry run for the day before the JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base Air Festival on Saturday, December 2, 2017.On this day, a demonstration flight of RF4E (913) and RF4EJ (397) of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Reconnaissance Squadron 501SQ, which flew from Hyakuri Air Base, was held. This is a demonstration flight of the RF4EJ, which is an F4EJ converted into a reconnaissance aircraft. As expected, this is a former fighter F4EJ. This flies very easily and flutters.

This is a special painting taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base in September 2000 for participation in the Air Self-Defense Force Combat Skills Competition. On the air intake vane of this aircraft, a frog with the 301SQ unit mark is trying to catch and eat the enemy AGR mascot cobra. In fact, 301SQ won the Interception Division of the Air Force Combat Skills Competition held in June of this year, so the frogs of 301SQ must have eaten a lot of AGR cobras... (^ ^) v.The 301SQ-F4EJ Kai retained this special livery until the Nyutabaru Air Base Air Festival at the end of 2000.

Around September 1986, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force ordered each fighter unit in Japan to conduct research on aircraft painting suitable for actual combat. The photo above is 301SQ F4EJ-327 taken at Nyutabaru base on October 3, 1986. This aircraft oversprayed the large Japanese flag and the aircraft number on the nose, making them smaller and less visible. The unit mark is also small and difficult to see.Two other similar aircraft were confirmed.(At that time, F4, F1, and F15 aircraft at various air bases in Japan had several of their aircraft painted with low visibility paint.)Below is the comparison photo above, which is Unit 327 with normal paint. (Photo taken on November 24, 1992.)

This is the takeoff of an F4EJ Kai aircraft belonging to Hyakuri Air Base 301SQ, painted to commemorate its retirement, taken at the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Tsuiki AIR Base on November 16, 2020 (Monday). This aircraft was scheduled to fly cross-country from Tsuiki Air Base to Naha Air Base together with a yellow-painted F4EJ Kai on November 12, 2020, but due to equipment failure, the aircraft was unable to fly. On this day, near the fishing port point where we were, this F4EJ Kai twisted to the right immediately after takeoff. The takeoff altitude was so low that the aircraft spilled out of the lens frame.Unfortunately, it was raining that day.
