This is a comparison image of 301SQ-F4EJ Kai taken at the RW28 end of JASDF-Nyuatabaru base. The above photo was taken in early October 2003 of his F4EJ Kai painted to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of his 301SQ at Nyuatabaru base. The photo below was taken in mid-September 2004 of a 301SQ-F4EJ Kai painted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Air Self-Defense Force at Nyuatabaru Base.

This is F4EJ Kai No.434 of 301SQ taken at JASDF-Nyuatabaru base. The first photo was taken on December 1, 1991. This is a normal Gal Gray official painted aircraft. The second photo was taken on November 29, 1992. Normally, a light shade of gray is applied over the formal paint.I think you can clearly see the effect of camouflage painting.

These are 301SQ-F4EJ Kais photographed at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base on June 20, 1994.These aircraft are aircraft that participated in the 1994 Air Self-Defense Force combat competition. From around this time, the F4EJ changed from the old official Gull Gray paint to the new blue air camouflage paint. Unit 421 is a new air control camouflage painting machine.Machines 384 and 386 are old official Gull Gray painted machines. Then, the entire surface of the aircraft was oversprayed with blue-gray paint to resemble the new air camouflage. The words "SU Eaters" were written on the vertical tail to raise fighting spirit. According to an aviation magazine, it means "the fierce men who devour Sukhoi."The two stars on the air intake vane of No. 421 seem to indicate the squadron leader's aircraft (second lieutenant).

This is the takeoff of 301SQ-F4EJ Kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base before dusk at the end of November 2012.I like the fact that palm trees are in the background of the subject, as it gives the impression of a warm tropical Nyutabaru base.

This is an early morning takeoff of 301SQ-F4EJ Kai taken at the JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base Air Festival on December 4, 2011.On this day, the visibility was very good and the surrounding mountains looked very close.

In the spring of 1992, the F4EJ Kai with light blue and navy blue identification bands was released to 301SQ at JASDF-Nyutabaru Base. It seems that these aircraft were fakers during training for the 1992 JASDF combat competition

This is a 301SQ F4EJ kai belonging to the Nyutabaru base that imitates the forest camouflage paint of the F1 jet fighter that served as a virtual enemy aircraft in the JASDF combat competition. The first photo is of an F4 aircraft painted in F1 fighter camouflage, taken on October 2, 1992. (It was a temporary painting machine for about six months.) The second photo is of an F4 aircraft painted in F1 fighter camouflage, taken on May 9, 1994. The vertical tail of this aircraft has been painted in different colors to make it look more like an F1 fighter jet. (This was an interim paint machine for several months.)The third photo is a comparison photo with the one above, and is a forest camouflage photo of RF4E of 501SQ.The fourth photo is also a comparison photo with the one above, and is the official camouflage painting of an F1 fighter jet.

This is the takeoff of 301SQ-F4EJ kai modified No. 438 taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base in early November 2011.Around this time, a temporary runway was being used for construction of the main runway. Because the temporary runway was very close to the base boundary fence where we enthusiasts were, we were able to photograph the aircraft on the RW from a very close distance.

This is a formation takeoff of 301SQ F4EJ Kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on November 26, 1998.Sometimes they do formation takeoffs that are picturesque for us aviation enthusiasts, like the one in the first photo.Usually, they take off in a tight formation like the second photo.

A long time ago, in Chinese mythology, there was a ``Kirin'' as a divine beast that protected the center of heaven. And there was a beast god who protected the four sides of the heavens. The turtle is a beast god that protects the northern sky. The white tiger is the beast god that protects the western sky. Phoenix is the beast god that protects the southern point. The blue dragon was the beast god that protected the eastern sky.In 1994, the RF4E at JASDF Hyakuri Air Base in Japan painted these five beast gods on the noses of five RF4 aircraft. At that time, we Japanese aircraft enthusiasts looked forward to seeing these RF4Es with illustrations of beast gods visiting each base

This is a formation landing of 301SQ F4EJ Kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on February 18, 1997.It was very difficult to take photos of formation landings because there were not many F4s landing in formation and the two aircraft did not overlap well in the frame.

This is the ALQ-6 (jamming pod dedicated to F-4EJ) mounted under the right wing of 301SQ-F4EJ No. 359, taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Base on July 1, 1986.According to the website:ALQ-6 is a Japan-made jamming pod exclusively for the F-4EJ, manufactured and used for several aircraft from around 1980.Installation required aircraft modification, and only a few aircraft such as No. 339, No. 359, No. 395, and No. 370 were able to carry ALQ-6.It is said that it was discontinued with the introduction of AN/ALQ-131 (see second photo) after 1990.
