This is a formation takeoff of 301SQ F4EJ Kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on July 19, 2005.These provided an unusual form of takeoff that aircraft fans loved.

In Japan, May 5th is Children's Day, a national holiday. On Children's Day, many people put up carp-shaped streamers for newborn boys to commemorate their children's healthy growth. It is called "Koinobori" in Japanese. In an ancient Chinese story, a carp is said to climb a waterfall and become a dragon.On the right side of the background of the photo below, you can see the "carp streamers" flying from private houses around the base. I'm sure the children here are now growing up and doing well.

This is F4EJ Kai No. 315 taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base on May 24, 2001.Just before the 2001 combat sports competition (2001.05.29), the painting to boost fighting spirit was completed.

These are F4EJ Kai of 302SQ taken in the hangar of JASDF Naha Base on February 12, 1993. There were many painted machines that participated in the 1992 combat competition.

This is a takeoff of 301SQ F4EJ Kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base on November 12, 2004.On this day, 302SQ F4EJ Kai from Naha base and several 501SQ RF4Es from Hyakuri base flew to Nyutabaru base and were conducting joint training with 301SQ F4EJ.

This is 301SQ F4EJ kai No. 440 taken at the RW28 end of JASDF-Nyutabaru base on June 22, 2004. This 440th aircraft was the last Phantom produced around the world on May 20, 1981, and is the 5195th aircraft in total. Among Japanese enthusiasts, it was nicknamed "440=Shishimaru → Lion King".

This is F4EJ Kai of 301SQ taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on November 11, 2011. Around this time, a temporary runway was being used for the main RW renovation work at the base. The temporary runway was very close to the fence where we enthusiasts were, and with the lens I usually use, the aircraft was out of frame.

This is the takeoff of 301SQ-F4EJ taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on August 17, 1994.At this time, F4EJ and F4EJ kai, old Gull Gray painted machines, new air camouflage machines, and intermediate painted machines were mixed.It was a midsummer day, and the cumulonimbus clouds in the background of the photo were very beautiful.

This is 302SQ-F4EJ Kai taking off in formation with 301SQ F4EJ Kai, taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base on January 17, 2003. It is very rare for different units to take off in formation.









 
2024年5月18日

This is F4EJ No. 330 of 304SQ belonging to JASDF-Tsuiki base.When this aircraft was photographed at the Nyutabaru base on February 19, 1986, it was painted in normal gull gray paint (photo above).After that, on November 16, 1986, the Japanese flag, unit mark, and machine number on this aircraft were reduced in size, and a low-visibility paint was applied over it, such as overspraying. The first to third photos are of 301SQ F4EJ kai taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on October 10, 2006. These aircraft have shark mouths painted on their noses to raise their fighting spirit for participating in the combat sports competition held this month.The fourth photo is F4EJ Kai of 302SQ belonging to Naha base. Instead of a shark's mouth, 302SQ had "Shisa," the guardian deity of Okinawa, where Naha base is located, written on its nose.

This is F4ej Kai-Aircraft 351 taken at the JASDF-Nyutabaru base. This aircraft took part in a combat competition, and had a shark's mouth painted on its nose to increase its fighting spirit.From the first photo, aircraft 351 that participated in competitions in 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2002. All machines belong to 301SQ.The fifth photo is a 302SQ aircraft 351 that participated in the competition in 2004.This aircraft appears to be in very good condition.












 
2024年5月21日 

This is a takeoff of 304SQ-F4EJ taken from JASDF-Nyutabaru base on February 16, 1988. Around this time, there was a Japan-US joint training exercise at Nyutabaru Air Base, with US Air Force 67FS-F15Cs flying from Kadena Air Base and F1 fighter jets and 304SQ-F4EJs flying from Tsuiki Air Base.The 304SQ F4EJ had an identification belt wrapped around the fuselage.

 










 
2024年5月22日 

This is F4EJ of 305SQ taken at the 25th anniversary ceremony of the establishment of JASDF-Hyakuri Base held on September 12, 1992.These f4EJs performed a demonstration flight after takeoff. Shortly after this, the 305SQ aircraft was replaced from the F4 to the F15.

This is a demo flight of 301SQ F4EJ Kai taken at the JASDF-Nyutabaru Base Air Festival held on December 7, 2003.These aircraft had shark mouths written on the nose of the aircraft to participate in the combat competition held this year (2003)












 
2024年5月25日

This is 304SQ F4EJ-344 taken at the JASDF-Tsuiki Base Air Festival on November 6, 1983(first photo). This aircraft had camouflage paint applied to it in order to participate in the combat competition held that year. This aircraft was also flown and exhibited at the Nyutabaru Air Base Air Festival held on January 22, 1984(2nd to 4th photos).More than 10 days later, on February 7, 1984, when this aircraft flew to Nyutabaru Air Base to participate in joint Japan-U.S. training exercises, the paint was about to be removed (see below (5th photo)).

This is F4EJ of 301SQ taken at JASDF-Nyutabaru base in October 1990.These aircraft were painted to raise their fighting spirit in order to participate in the JASDF-Combat Competition.It seems that No. 271 was the captain's aircraft, and there are two stars written on the air intake vane.

This is an F4EJ of 301SQ, photographed at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on November 25, 1991. Several F4EJs took off following the F4EJ-393, which was towing a dart target.
