This is the first shot I took of 301SQ-F4EJ with its travel pod attached, at JASDF-Nyutabaru base on March 1st, 1988.
The travel pod is a pod made by modifying the wingtip fuel tanks of a JASDF-F104J, which was retired in March 1986, for use exclusively with the F4EJ/EJ Kai to store travel equipment.
At the time, it became a hot topic among Japanese aircraft enthusiasts, who said it was a "combination of an F104J and an F4EJ."
