These are 301SQ-F4EJ Kai aircraft belonging to Nyutabaru Air Base that participated in the JASDF Combat Skill Competition in 1992. These aircraft (No. 338, No. 342, No. 348, No. 354, No. 434, No. 437) had overspray on top of the gull gray paint of the aircraft, making the Hinomaru and serial number difficult to see.

JASDF Nyutabaru Air Base is located at the southern tip of mainland Japan, so it's very warm even in winter. As a result, there are many palm trees that grow in tropical regions planted all over the base.I like photographing aircraft such as the F4EJ with these palm trees in the background, as it gives it a Nyutabaru Air Base feel.

Every year before the JASDF Combat Skills Competition, various illustrations were painted on the aircraft of the participating F4s of the 301SQ to boost morale. The first to third photos are illustrations painted on the air intake vanes of aircraft in 1999 to boost morale. The illustration shows a missile fired by the 301SQ-F4EJ piercing the "skull" symbol of the opponent, the AGR-F15DJ. (Photo taken on 1999.08.31)
By the way, the fourth photo is the T2-AGR squadron leader's aircraft, photographed at Nyutabaru Air Base on 1987.09.21. The "skull" mark was painted on this aircraft. From this time on, AGR used the "skull" mark as its symbol.

This photo was taken at the JASDF-Nyutabaru Air Base in June 2002 of the 301SQ-F4EJKai's arresting hook landing training. The hook landing of the F-4EJ scrapes the concrete road surface on the RW, creating a dust-like substance (see the second photo). On the other hand, the hook landing of the F-15J produces beautiful sparks.
