新田原基地・築城基地

１９８５年２月１３日昼前に、百里基地から３０１SQのF４EJが４機 新田原基地に飛来しました。
初めて見る当時の「7つ星入りのカエルの部隊マーク」付きのF４EJもうれしかったのですが、何よりもこれらの機体の中に当時航空雑誌で話題の「ミグシルエット塗装機」がいたのに感激しました。
これを見て、感動で胸が震えたのを今でも覚えています。
（参考）新田原基地所属の２０４SQーF104は1985年初めに退役し、第７航空団百里基地に移駐し新編Ｆ１５部隊となりました。
代わりに 百里基地の３０１SQ-F４EJが新田原基地に移駐し、第５航空団に編入されました。
これは、その移駐のための先遣隊だったのかもしれませんね。
Just before noon on February 13, 1985, four F4EJs
from the 301st SQ flew from Hyakuri Air Base to
Nyutabaru Air Base.I was happy to see F4EJs with
the "seven-star frog unit marking" for
the first time, but I was most impressed to see
that among these aircraft was a "MiG
silhouette painted aircraft" that was a hot
topic in aviation magazines at the time.I still
remember the excitement I felt when I saw this.(Reference)The
204th SQ F104s belonging to Nyutabaru Air Base
were retired in early 1985 and transferred to the
7th Air Wing at Hyakuri Air Base as a newly
formed F15 unit.In their place, the 301st SQ F4EJs
from Hyakuri Air Base were transferred to
Nyutabaru Air Base and incorporated into the 5th
Air Wing.This may have been an advance unit for
the transfer. |

１９８５年3月2日に、百里基地所属の３０１SQのF４EJが、第5航空団新田原基地へ移駐しました。
私は、F4EJがめずらしくてたまらず、特に「ミグシルエット」のF4EJを撮りたくて、１９８５年は頻繁に新田原基地に撮影に通いました。
これは、１９８５年４月５日に新田原基地で撮影した３０１SQのF4EJです。
このころ、JASDF上層部から、垂直尾翼の部隊マークは、機体の「日の丸」サイズより小さくするように指示がありました。
2枚目写真の327号機の部隊マークは一回り小さくなっています。
300mmレンズ（F5.6）、ネガカラーフイルム使用です。
2Lサイズプリントをスキャンしました。
On March 2, 1985, the F4EJ of the 301st SQ
assigned to Hyakuri Air Base was relocated to the
5th Air Wing's Nyutabaru Air Base.For me, the F4EJ
was extremely rare, and I particularly wanted to
photograph the F4EJ in its "MiG silhouette,"
so I frequently visited Nyutabaru Air Base in
1985 to take photos.This is an F4EJ of the 301st
SQ photographed at Nyutabaru Air Base on April 5,
1985.Around this time, instructions were given by
the JASDF upper echelons to make the unit marking
on the vertical stabilizer smaller than the size
of the "Japanese flag" on the aircraft.A

部隊マークは一回り小さくなった機体があります。

これは、１９８６年１月１０日に新田原基地で撮影した３０１SQのF4EJです。
370号機は、1986.06.16に新田原基地から4機で離陸し、宮崎県沖で訓練中に天候が悪化したため、新田原基地に戻れなくなりました。一番近くの築城基地にダイバートする途中で燃料が無くなり、僚機の３０９号機と伴に墜落しました。幸い乗員４名は無事脱出されました。

took off from Nyutabaru Air Base with four other
aircraft on June 16, 1986, but was unable to
return to Nyutabaru Air Base due to worsening
weather conditions during training off the coast
of Miyazaki Prefecture. While diverting to the
nearest Tsuiki Air Base, it ran out of fuel and
crashed together with its wingman, No. 309.
Fortunately, the four crew members escaped safely.300mm

３５９号機が右側主翼下に付けているポッドは、J/ALQ-6
ECMポッド です。
「ファントム応援団」」ウエブサイトによると、
「１９８２年戦競に登場した日本国産のF-4EJ専用ジャミング用ポッドで、ALQ-6を搭載可能だったのは#339、#359、#395、370等の少数しか確認されていない。・・・1990年以降のAN/ALQ-131改(F-4EJ改用）導入に伴い、廃止された。」とのことです。

the "Phantom Supporters" website,
"This was a Japanese-made jamming pod made
specifically for the F-4EJ that appeared in the
1982 air combat competition, and only a few
models, such as #339, #359, #395, and #370, were
confirmed to be capable of carrying the ALQ-6....
With the introduction of the AN/ALQ-131 Kai (for
the F-4EJ Kai) after 1990, it was discontinued." |

３０２SQは、1985年11月に日本最北端の北海道千歳基地から日本最南端の沖縄県の那覇基地へ移駐しました。
この日、３０２SQのF4EJは、新田原基地に移動して訓練していました。
私は、３０２ＳＱの「オジロワシの大きな部隊マーク」付きＦ４ＥＪを見たのはこの日初めてだした。
感動で身震いしました。

formation at Nyutabaru Air Base on July 22, 1986.302SQ
was relocated from Chitose Air Base in Hokkaido,
the northernmost part of Japan, to Naha Air Base
in Okinawa Prefecture, the southernmost part of
Japan, in November 1985.On this day, the F4EJs of
302SQ were training at Nyutabaru Air Base.It was
the first time that I saw an F4EJ with 302SQ's
"big white-tailed eagle unit marking."

これは、１９８６年８月４日に築城基地で撮影した３０４SQのF4EJのタキシーです。
両機とも、1984年の航空総隊戦技競技会参加塗装を機体に施していました。
348号機は、当時、マニアの間で流行った「新谷かおる」さんの日本漫画「ファントム無頼」の主人公機にちなんだ「ダンダラ模様」をエアインテークベーンにほどこしていました。

当時の築城基地のマニアの皆さんは、この機体を「新選組」機と呼んでいました。
幕末に活躍した新選組の隊服に、この白い三角の模様の「だんだら」が用いられていたためです。

were painted in the 1984 Air Defense Command
Combat Skills Competition.348 had a "dandara"
pattern on the air intake vanes, inspired by the
aircraft of the protagonist of "Phantom
Burai", a Japanese manga by Shintani Kaoru
that was popular among enthusiasts at the time.(See
the third photo, taken from the box art of a
plastic model made by Hasegawa Seisakusho.)The
enthusiasts at Tsuiki Air Base at the time called
this aircraft the "Shinsengumi"
aircraft.This is because the white triangular
pattern "dandara" was used on the
uniforms of the Shinsengumi, who were active at
the end of the Edo period |

1982年の戦技競技会参加塗装機のようで、機首にシャークティースが書いてあります。
胴体下には、ミサイル標的を装着しているようです。

This is an F4EJ of the 303rd SQ belonging to
Komatsu Air Base, photographed at Nyutabaru Air
Base on August 30th, 1983.This was the second F4EJ
I photographed at Nyutabaru Air Base after buying
a SLR camera.It appears to be one of the aircraft
painted to have participated in the 1982 Air
Defense Command Combat Skills Competition, as it
lacks the white border of the "Hinomaru"
and has shark teeth marks painted on the nose. |
